Learn about the background story of how professional artists
worked on character lineup.
-short YouTube lecture, or slides made by a teacher.
Warm up activity ideas:
Draw shape randomly- and this can be used for later
activities.
It can be sketchbook assignment,

Use primitive shapes as a base to draw 3 different
characters.
Primitive shape:
Circle, rectangle, triangle (a teacher can make handouts)
- stretch and squeeze them.
Choose your favorite one and give variations (size, mass
etc.) 3 times.
Draw a lineup of characters. Come up with an interesting
story about them.

A teacher can prepare a picture that shows interesting
environment.
It could be sci-fi, seascape, castle or any interesting
environment that can trigger student’s imagination
A teacher can pass out the shapes that he or she made, or
use the random shape that they already drew.
Draw characters that would fit into the environments.
-ideas about props and how characters can show the glimpse
of the world that they are living in.
